FAQS

What is Sing-a-Long-a Sound of Music?

A screening of the classic 1965 movie musical (in glorious, full-screen technicolor) with subtitles burned onto the musical numbers so the whole audience can sing along!

The host for the evening will lead the audience through a vocal warm up, judge a fancy dress competition, show everyone how to use their free ‘magic moments’ pack and give them a guide to the appropriate actions including booing the bad guys and cheering for our heros!

The audience then watches the movie with hundreds of other nuns, Julie Andrews look-alikes, Von Trapp children etc, and sing their hearts out during the songs!

Do you have to dress up?

No, dressing up is not compulsory, but is encouraged. There is a fancy dress competition where the best costumes are chosen by the audience and the winner is rewarded with a small prize. The object is not the winning however, rather the experience of dressing up and the taking part!

What is in the magic moments pack?

We wouldn’t want to spoil the surprise for the audience! The pack contains five props, which are used in unison by the whole audience at key moments during the movie.

How long is the show?

The show lasts about 3 hours 50 mins, with an intermission.

When is the intermission?

After about 2 and a quarter hours

Can we buy costumes?

There is a company we recommend and you can find a link at www.singalonga.net. Otherwise, customers will need to make their own (which is much more fun anyway).

Is the show suitable for children?

The Sound of Music is suitable for all and children are welcome! The show is long and it may not hold the interest of younger children. The magic moments party packs are not recommended for children under the age of three.
